The chromatic scale encompasses all of the notes on the keyboard. When you play in the chromatic scale, you’re not limited by the notes in a particular key. Every color of the musical rainbow is at your disposal. Of course, you don’t have to play every single note and make a chaotic din — but you can if you’re in the mood for it. You can simply sprinkle in a few chromatic notes and create a harmonious composition that ventures beyond familiar melodies into unexpected places. When things are getting a little too boring, a little too predictable, a little bit of chromaticism can brighten things up.
That’s what we sought to do with our chroma collection: create harmonious pieces in unexpected yet timeless designs that glow with the purest ruby reds, sapphire blues, and emerald greens, that also venture into hues like turquoise and pink sapphire, out of the ordinary yet no less bold, that can be combined in creative ways to sing the song of your personal style.
A chromatic note here and there provides a little pop of color that changes the mood or brings the listener’s attention to a particular line. Sometimes, that’s exactly what an outfit needs: something unexpected or extraordinary that nevertheless brings a look together.
A splash of unexpected color can turn the ordinary into something restrained and refined, but adding lots of color can result in something just as elegant. Just listen to John Coltrane’s “Giant Steps” and you’ll hear chromatic notes in every measure. None of them sound at all out of place. There are no wrong notes here, just lots of unexpected colors that sparkle in every chord and create something vibrant, sophisticated and smart.
One piece from the chroma collection makes a statement, but mixing and matching a few of them lets you compose something dramatic, expressing every facet of your personality.
Explore the chroma collection and dance to a symphony of color cascading from every piece.
